Applied Behavior Analysis

Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) is a scientific approach to understanding behavior—how it develops, what influences it, and how it can be meaningfully changed.

At its core, ABA focuses on building skills that improve quality of life—communication, independence, and social connection—while reducing behaviors that interfere with learning and daily functioning.

ABA is supported by decades of research and is widely recognized as an effective, evidence-based treatment.

At Avanza ABA, we apply these principles with intention—focusing not just on data, but on what matters most to each individual and family.

ABA is not one-size-fits-all. Every plan is designed to create meaningful, lasting progress in real life.

ABA myths vs. reality

No — ABA is effective across the entire lifespan. At Avanza, we serve children, teenagers, and adults. Goals and strategies are always tailored to the individual's age, needs, and life context.
Modern, ethical ABA focuses on the individual's quality of life, autonomy, and goals. It is play-based, naturalistic, and compassionate — not the rigid, repetitive approach sometimes depicted. We follow the most current evidence and ethics guidelines.
Intensity depends on the individual's needs and goals. After a behavioral assessment, your BCBA will recommend an appropriate number of hours based on research guidelines and your family's situation — typically ranging from 10 to 40 hours per week.
In most cases, yes. ABA therapy is mandated to be covered by most insurance plans under federal and Arizona law. We verify your specific benefits before your first appointment at no cost to you.
